Cosmic Powers #5, Vol. 1 Published by Marvel Comics, 1994 Featuring Morg "The question is which is to be master, thats all" Lewis Carroll Writer: Ron Marz Original Price: $2.50 History Behind Issue: Continued from Cosmic Powers #4 Plot: Tyrant, still trying to get Morg to serve him, attaches a contraption to his mind to reveal his past. It is revealed Morg fought in an army of his home planet attempting to dethrone the current power. When the rebels failed, Morg obtained an opportunity to join the Queens army. Having a great loyalty to strength, Morg easily switched sides and became an executioner of the Queen until Galactus came to the planet. Morg defied him and later was chosen to become his herald with up-to-now unswerving loyalty that not even Tyrant seemed to be able to break. Meanwhile, Ganymede joins Thanos crusade upon hearing that he wishes to challenge Tyrant. She reveals that he had no weaknesses. Thanos, Terrax and Ganymede use her knowledge to find and enter Tyrants realm. They easily dispose of the guards. Tyrant sends Morg to attack them having placed a mind controlling organism attached to his head. Morg engages them all initially but then settles to fight Terrax. During their fight, Terrax knocks the organism from Morgs head. Re-establishing control of himself, Morg decides to leave and return to Galactus vowing to someday return to kill Terrax. Jack of Hearts and Legacy arrive and Jack of Hearts immediately attempts to attack Thanos. With a simple backhand, Jack of Hearts is sent flying to a wall. Ganymede then tells him that she is cooperating with Thanos much to his surprise. As Thanos tells them that they will all be needed to fight, Tyrant makes an entrance and promises that none will survive.
Writing: 10 Perfect story. Everything fit in very well. Ganymedes desire to help Thanos due to her obsession with Tyrant, Morg remaining loyal, Tyrant trying to use him everything fit in great. I could not find any flaws in the story. Fantastic job! Art: 9.4 Excellent art work. Could probably have done with a little less of the 2-page panels annoying separated by staples but very well drawn and great choice of colors to give this issue a darker feel when dealing with Tyrant. In some panels at the start, Morgs throat looked a little too fat, but it is a minor point. Overall score: 9.7 Concluded in Cosmic Powers #6 Review written by Mystic |
