Galactus, Neither Good Nor Evil
A being from beyond our universe, born before the big bang the motives and thoughts of Galactus are as beyond mortal comprehension as ours is to ants. The concepts of good and evil have no meaning when applied to The World devourer for he acts not out of malice or compassion. He feeds has he must to survive. The importance of his life to the universe is paramount. He is a balancing force between Eternity and Death. Whether the planet he feeds on has sentient life or not is inconsequential to him, all that matters is assuaging the ever present hunger. It is this amorality that often causes the Surfer to stand against his former master, for life has meaning to the man once known as Norrin Radd as do the concepts of truth and beauty. These mean little or nothing to Galactus. The Silver Surfer earned Galactus's admiration and respect by sacrificing his life in endless servitude as herald to save his homeworld. Norrin Radd was the first chosen companion of Galactus. He has shown a compassion for the Silver Surfer that he has shown for no other. Perhaps the Surfer's betrayal wounded even the unfathomable heart of the Mighty Galactus for never has he bequeathed such power to such a noble soul ever again.
