Silver
Surfer #37, Vol. 3 Published by Marvel Comics May, 1990 "A Destructive Encounter" Writer: Jim Starlin Original Price: $1.00 History Behind Issue: Continued from issue #36, The Rebirth of Thanos continues. Plot: The Silver Surfer attempts to track Thanos from their last
encounter but Thanos is one step ahead and has taken actions to prevent that. He then
heads to Titan where Mentor fills him in on details of Thanos' early childhood. Mentor
reveals that Thanos killed his own mother at age 10 and subsequently killed another girl
before leaving Titan. For 80 years he improved himself and amassed some followers. Their
talk is interrupted as Drax the Destroyer bursts in on them obsessed with knowing where
Thanos is. He attacks the Silver Surfer sensing his recent contact with Thanos. The Silver
Surfer explains physically that he does not know but Drax claims he senses they will meet
again and refuses to let go of his board. Surf takes off into space trying to shake him
but he can't. Eventually he remembers the Impossible Man's advice to take things lightly
and takes Drax to Earth. There he tells him that an information machine (TV) will tell him
where Thanos is and they both begin to watch TV at the FF headquarters. Soon Drax is
engrossed watching and the Silver Surfer slips out unnoticed ready to attempt to track
Thanos again. Conclusion in issue #38. Comments: Nice to see Jim Starlin made Impossible Man's advice in the previous issue actually help the Silver Surfer. Nice art of Silver Surfer and Drax in the sun. Review written by Alexander Soto |
