AnotherUniverse.Com's
Daily Buzz reports:
Kevin Walker, who wrote the script for horror-thriller Se7en
has reportedly been hired to write a Silver Surfer movie.
Production could begin in 2001 and the film will focus on the
Surfer's attempts to fend off former master Galactus, according to Cinescape and Variety.
AnotherUniverse.Com
also had the following to say about other Marvel movies:
- Spider-Man: Marvel Comics has a tight grip on the
script for the Spider-Man movie project.
"We have
story and outline approval, and the script cannot be different from what was
approved," company exec Avi Arad told Variety columnist Michael Fleming.
"We have a say over how the characters will look, access to dailies in a timely
fashion, and we either exec produce or produce. Legally, we have a lot of checks and
balances, but the way we work with studios is very collaborative."
Spidey causing the death of a villain was already axed by Marvel
from the script, Arad said. "Spider-Man never kills anybody." I guess the Green
Goblin doesn't count, eh?
- Hulk: The Incredible Hulk movie is reportedly
back on course and cooking, according to Variety columnist Michael Fleming. The
screenplay is being handled by Michael France, according to Cinescape.
- Captain America: A new Captain America film
(perhaps to wash the bad taste of the 1992 bomb away), possibly by Saving Private Ryan's
Mark Gordon and Gary Levinsohn.
- Ultraverse's Prime: Prime, once abandoned,
may be back on track and is described as "a comedy about a scrawny little kid who has
the ability or handicap of going instantly from a kid to an Arnold [Schwarzenegger]-like
man. It's Big in a superhero's body," Arad said. Doug Chamberlin and Chris Webb (Toy
Story 2) will write the script for producer Chuck Gordon.
- Damage Control: Damage Control, the
organization set up to clean up after super-hero battles, will be produced by Urban
Legend's Neal Moritz and Barry Levine.
- Dr. Strange: Blade's David Goyer will write a
Dr. Strange script for Sony.
- Black Panther: Speaking of Blade, Wesley
Snipes will indeed produce a Black Panther movie, pitting the high tech African
prince against an evil genius.
- Namor: A film about Namor, the Sub-Mariner
may come from The Right Stuff's director Philip Kaufman with Sam Hamm in line to
write the script.
- Iron Man, Daredevil and Thor
projects are also still being kicked around.
